Terms & Conditions

The Meals · themeals.co.uk · Last updated July 2026

By placing an order, subscribing to a plan, or creating an account with The Meals (“we,” “us,” “our,” or the “Company”), you (“Customer,” “you,” or “your”) explicitly acknowledge, accept, and agree to be legally bound by these Master Terms and Conditions. If you do not agree to every clause herein, you must not purchase or consume our products.

1Subscription Mechanics, Dynamic Pricing & Cancellations

1.1 Dynamic Pricing: Subscription and meal plan prices displayed on our website are subject to change. Prices billed will always reflect the current published rate at the time of order processing or subscription renewal as shown during checkout.

1.2 Recurring Billing & Automated Authorization: Our service operates on a recurring subscription basis. By subscribing, you authorize us to charge your designated payment card automatically on a recurring schedule (weekly/monthly) according to your selected plan until you formally pause, skip, or cancel via your account dashboard.

1.3 Strictly Enforced Weekly Cut-Off Times: Modifications to your meal selections, address changes, pauses, skips, or cancellations must be executed via your online account dashboard prior to our published weekly cut-off deadline.

1.4 No Mid-Batch Cancellations or Refunds: Because meals are prepared fresh and raw ingredients are procured specifically to order, no cancellations, refunds, or adjustments will be granted once the weekly cut-off time has passed for an active cycle. If you cancel after the cut-off, your cancellation will take effect for the following billing cycle; you will receive and be billed for the current batch already in preparation.

2Allergens, Severe Sensitivities & Cross-Contamination Disclaimer

2.1 Shared Preparation Environment: All meals are handcrafted in a central production kitchen that handles major environmental and dietary allergens, including but not limited to: Tree Nuts, Peanuts, Sesame, Milk/Dairy, Wheat (Gluten), Eggs, Soy, Mustard, Celery, Fish, Crustaceans, and Sulphites.

2.2 No Guarantee of Zero Cross-Contamination: While we enforce strict food hygiene standards, we cannot and do not guarantee that any dish is 100% allergen-free or free from airborne or equipment trace particles.

⚠ Important — please read

2.3 Severe & Anaphylactic Allergies: If you suffer from life-threatening allergies, severe sensitivities, or anaphylactic responses to any food group, YOU MUST NOT CONSUME OUR MEALS.

2.4 Absolute Waiver of Liability for Allergic Reactions: You assume 100% of the risk related to ingredient sensitivities. The Meals disclaims any and all legal liability for adverse reactions, illness, hospitalization, or medical conditions resulting from cross-contamination or undisclosed severe allergies.

3Preparation Dates, Fresh Shelf Life & Freezing Protocol

3.1 Manufacturing / Preparation Date Standard: All meals are delivered fresh (never frozen). In accordance with our fresh production standards, our meal packaging displays a Preparation / Manufacturing Date (or dispatch date) rather than a fixed calendar "Use By" stamp.

3.2 Fresh Chilled Consumption Window (4–5 Days): Meals must be stored in a refrigerator at or below 5°C immediately upon delivery. Meals are crafted and packaged to remain fresh, safe, and delicious for up to 4 to 5 days from the date of preparation/delivery when held continuously below 5°C.

3.3 Recommended Freezing Protocol: For meals intended for consumption beyond 4 to 5 days, freezing meals immediately upon receipt is strongly recommended. Freezing on the day of delivery extends product shelf life up to twelve (12) days from the date of preparation.

3.4 Assumption of Risk for Storage Failure: We accept zero legal or financial liability for food degradation, microbial contamination, spoilage, or foodborne illness resulting from:

  • Failure to refrigerate meals at or below 5°C immediately upon delivery.
  • Consumption of chilled meals past the 4-to-5-day fresh window.
  • Refrigerators or storage units operating above 5°C.
  • Failure to freeze meals upon receipt if consuming after day 5.

4Reheating Procedures & Food Safety

🌡 Food safety

4.1 Thermal Reheating Requirement: For maximum food safety and quality, all meals must be reheated thoroughly until reaching an internal temperature of at least 75°C throughout prior to consumption.

4.2 Single Reheat Rule: Once a meal has been heated, it must never be refrozen or reheated a second time. Any leftover unconsumed food from a heated meal must be discarded immediately.

4.3 Reheating Apparatus Variances: Microwave and oven wattages vary significantly. Cooking times listed on packaging or marketing material are guidelines only. You are solely responsible for ensuring food is heated safely and thoroughly throughout.

5Nutritional Calculations, Portion Sizes & Macro Variances

5.1 Estimated Macro Values: All macronutrient data (protein, carbohydrates, fats, calories) displayed on our website, packaging, or third-party fitness tracking tools are estimates derived from standard raw ingredient databases and recipe formulations.

5.2 Natural Culinary Variance: Because our meals are made from real, fresh, artisanal ingredients (whole chicken breasts, fresh meats, rice, and fresh produce), natural variations in raw density, trimming, water loss during cooking, and cook yield will occur.

5.3 Acceptable Variance Threshold: You acknowledge and accept that actual macro values and individual container weights may vary by up to +/- 15% from published averages. Such variances are standard in cooked food production and do not constitute a defect or grounds for a refund.

5.4 No Guaranteed Health Outcomes: We make no claims or guarantees that consuming our meals will result in specific body weight loss, muscle gain, athletic performance changes, or medical improvements.

6Natural Food Ingredients & Inherent Risks

6.1 Natural Bone & Tendon Risk: Meat dishes—including our chicken karahi, keema, tikka, and biryani—utilize fresh, real poultry and meat cuts. While rigorous deboning procedures are enforced, meals may occasionally contain minor bone fragments, gristle, cartilage, or skin.

6.2 Produce Natural Elements: Meals containing fresh produce, spices, or legumes may naturally contain stems, seeds, or herb stalks.

6.3 Customer Precaution: You are advised to exercise reasonable caution while chewing. The Meals accepts no liability for dental damage or oral injury resulting from natural meat or produce fragments inherent to real food preparation.

7Courier Deliveries, "Safe Places" & Transfer of Risk

7.1 Transfer of Risk Upon Drop-Off: Full legal risk and ownership of the products transfer entirely to you the moment the courier completes delivery to your specified shipping address or drops the package off in accordance with your instructions.

7.2 Unattended Deliveries & "Safe Place" Authorization: If you provide delivery notes authorizing the courier to leave the package on a doorstep, in a porch, with a concierge/neighbor, or in a "safe place," you accept 100% responsibility for the package. We are not liable for:

  • Theft, tampering, or damage occurring post-delivery.
  • Temperature degradation caused by packages sitting uncollected in direct sunlight or warm ambient conditions.
  • Spoilage due to delayed collection by the customer.

7.3 Incorrect Address Entry: You are responsible for providing complete, accurate delivery details (including gate codes and access keys). We accept no liability for failed or delayed deliveries resulting from incorrect customer inputs.

8Chargebacks, Disputes & Fraud Prevention

8.1 Mandatory Customer Support Contact: You agree to contact our customer support team to resolve any order issues prior to initiating a payment chargeback or bank dispute.

8.2 Unlawful Chargebacks: Initiating a chargeback for delivered goods or after missing a published cancellation deadline is strictly prohibited. We reserve the right to submit these Terms, delivery proof tracking, and account activity logs to banking institutions to defeat fraudulent disputes.

8.3 Collection Costs: In the event of an improper chargeback, you agree to reimburse The Meals for all associated chargeback penalty fees, court costs, and legal expenses incurred to collect legitimate funds owed.

9Ingredient Substitutions & Force Majeure

9.1 Supply Chain Substitutions: We reserve the right to make minor ingredient or produce substitutions of equal or higher nutritional value without prior notice in the event of local ingredient shortages, seasonal unavailability, or supply chain disruptions.

9.2 Force Majeure: The Meals shall not be held liable for failure or delay in fulfilling deliveries due to causes beyond our reasonable control, including but not limited to severe weather conditions, national courier disruptions, traffic accidents, industrial action, power outages, or government restrictions.

10Indemnification & Maximum Limitation of Liability

10.1 Financial Liability Cap: To the fullest extent permitted by law, the maximum aggregate financial liability of The Meals for any claim, dispute, loss, or injury arising out of your order or consumption of our products shall never exceed the actual amount paid by you for the specific order giving rise to the claim.

10.2 Waiver of Consequential Damages: In no event shall The Meals, its owners, chefs, employees, or partners be liable for indirect, punitive, incidental, or consequential damages, including loss of health, personal injury, income loss, or emotional distress.

10.3 Indemnification: You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless The Meals and its team from any third-party claims, liabilities, damages, or costs resulting from your breach of these Terms or improper storage/handling of food products after delivery.

11Governing Law & Severability

11.1 Governing Law: These Terms shall be governed by and interpreted in accordance with the laws of England and Wales.

11.2 Severability: If any individual clause or provision of this agreement is found by a court to be invalid or unenforceable, that specific clause shall be severed, and all remaining provisions shall remain in full legal force and effect.
